Drake’s $125 Million Betting Binge: A Cautionary Tale in Celebrity Gambling

Drake is no stranger to high-stakes living, but his latest confession has stunned even his most devoted fans.

In a series of Instagram Stories posted on June 18, 2025, the Canadian rapper revealed that he had placed nearly $125 million in sports bets over the past month—and lost a staggering $8 million in the process.

Known for his partnership with the betting platform Stake, Drake has long flaunted his gambling habits. From NBA playoffs to cricket matches, his wagers span continents and sports.

One of his most talked-about bets was a $750,000 gamble on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the IPL 2025 final. While the team won, many of his other bets didn’t go as planned.

In his own words, Drake admitted, “Gotta share the other side of gambling… Losses are so fried right now.” He added that he’s “the only one that has never seen a max,” referring to the maximum payout many gamblers chase.

The rapper’s transparency struck a chord, especially as he acknowledged the infamous “Drake curse”—a running joke that teams he supports often lose.

This isn’t his first major loss. Earlier this year, he bet $1.25 million on the Toronto Maple Leafs, only to watch them crash out of the NHL playoffs. He also placed an $800,000 bet on Game 6 of the NBA Finals, hoping for a specific point spread that didn’t pan out.

Despite the losses, Drake remains philosophical. In a promo video for Stake, he quipped, “I am a flawed sports bettor… That’s not my gift.” He even joked that Michael Jordan is the real gambling GOAT, recalling how MJ once bet him repeatedly during a ping-pong match.

Still, not everyone is amused. Critics have called out the rapper for flaunting massive losses while many fans struggle financially. Some have labeled him a “Certified Loser Boy,” a play on his album title, and questioned whether his gambling is spiraling into addiction.

As Drake continues to ride the highs and lows of betting, his story serves as both a spectacle and a warning. In the world of celebrity gambling, the stakes are sky-high—and so are the consequences.
