A horrifying accident unfolded in Brazil as a hot-air balloon caught fire mid-flight, plummeting to the ground in a fiery descent and claiming the lives of at least eight people.
The tragedy occurred early in the morning in the interior region of São Paulo state, where groups of tourists were taking part in what was supposed to be a peaceful sunrise balloon ride.

Witnesses on the ground described the terrifying scene as the balloon suddenly erupted in flames while still airborne. Videos circulating on social media captured the horrifying moment when the envelope—the large fabric portion of the balloon—caught fire, sending flames racing upward toward the basket.
